about Ithacasori

Ithacasori is a student-led Korean music festival dedicated to showcasing the rich diversity of Korean musical traditions and contemporary expressions. Held at Ithaca College, the festival features a dynamic blend of performances, workshops, exhibitions, and talks ranging from K-Pop and Korean jazz to traditional instruments like the gayageum.

The name “Ithacasori” combines Ithaca with the Korean word sori (소리), meaning “sound" a nod to our mission of creating a space where Korean music can be heard, felt, and celebrated. By bringing together artists, scholars, and student performers, Ithacasori fosters cultural exchange, creative exploration, and a deeper appreciation for Korean music in all its forms.

About the Organizer

Harry Pogorzelski-Ponichtera is a Musician, Event Planner, Producer, Music Director, and passionate advocate for cross-cultural exchange. He is the creator and driving force behind Ithacasori, a festival dedicated to showcasing the rich variety of Korean music and fostering connection through sound.

With a musical journey that began through video game soundtracks and evolved into years of guitar performance, Harry has always sought to explore music beyond boundaries. In high school, he organized youth concerts, sparking an early love for community-focused music events. His interest in Korean music deepened during college, where he studied gayageum and immersed himself in both cultivated and vernacular styles. Inspired by the complexity and emotional depth of Korean musical traditions, he founded Ithacasori to create a space where artists, students, and audiences could come together to celebrate and learn through sound.

Through Ithacasori, he continues to build bridges between cultures and communities one performance at a time.
